ABOUT US

We are a student service unit within the METU Health and Counseling Center, providing psychological counseling and guidance services as well as psychiatric-psychological treatment.

OUR MISSION

Our goal is to support students in achieving the highest level of mental, emotional, and social development. Additionally, we conduct preventive programs to address potential problems that may arise during the educational process.

OUR PRINCIPLES

All sessions are kept confidential in accordance with ethical guidelines. Information about individuals who consult us is never shared with any person or institution (including family members) without their consent. We respect personal differences and value all individuals regardless of their characteristics.

OUR PROGRAMS

  1. SEMINARS AND WORKSHOP GROUPS

We offer groups of approximately 20 participants the opportunity to receive information and engage in practical exercises on the topic during a 1–2 hour session.

We provide information on a variety of subjects, including but not limited to:

  • Communication and Conflict Resolution Skills

  • Coping with Stress

  • Procrastination

  • Self-Confidence

  • Assertiveness Skills

  • Perfectionism

  • Problem-Solving Skills

  • Strategies for Coping with Depression

2. INDIVIDUAL PERSONAL COUNSELING

Through individual counseling, we provide a safe environment where participants can discuss personal concerns and issues related to their development with professionals. Together with the client, we work to identify personal difficulties and collaboratively set goals to achieve. If necessary, we also help the client access another specialist or institution as soon as possible.

3. GROUP COUNSELING

After the initial consultation, everyone can join a group. Groups of 8–15 members offer participants the opportunity to understand their inner world, lifestyle, and relationships. Through practical exercises, participants can initiate change both internally and in their relationships.

4. PSYCHIATRIC SUPPORT

Diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for conditions such as:

  • Psychosis

  • Mood Disorders

  • Neurotic Disorders

  • Psychosomatic Disorders

  • Personality Disorders, etc.,
    are provided by psychiatry specialists.

5. PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTS

During the counseling process, if necessary, we administer various psychological tests to better understand the client.
